During the night of 28 February to 01 March 2023, the city of Lille was hit by a cyber attack. The origin of the attack is not yet known and the possible damages caused are not all clear. We do know that the ticketing services such as museums, the zoo and swimming pools have been affected. The city says it has not yet received any messages, claims or ransom demands as a result of the attack.
The technical diagnosis is still ongoing, so for security reasons and to avoid a possible spread of the attack, computer systems were shut down and the staff was asked not to turn any computer systems back on. Since then, the various municipal services have been reorganising themselves to continue working without computers. So, back to paper, telephone and post-its. ;)
The telephone switchboard of the city should be restored at the beginning of this week. This is the first step in this "downgraded mode" phase which could last up to 3 weeks.
The municipal service can therefore continue its various activities but in a degraded way. The city has therefore asked users to postpone their procedures if they are not urgent.
