Not sure we have ever given you a formal definition of a hacker. The concept of a hacker has now entered the collective consciousness and become an element of popular culture. However, there are hackers who challenge this common view.
This paper presents 3 types of hackers, from the internet trolls to the nation-state hackers. For each of them it presents their capacities, level of expertise, computational power, and of course, their motivations. It’s interesting to see these profiles compared to the common 'typical' hacker profile and the contrasts that arise.
